Is it really worth getting documents checked?
Most people don’t realise the benefits of proofreading or copy-editing till they’ve seen the results. Both services can make huge improvements to any type of written material, and the results can have a lasting impression made by you or your company. See contact page for further information.
Can I see samples of your work?
Due to confidentiality, I can’t disclose other clients’ documents. But to see the types of improvements that can be made, simply go to the contact page and send me a page or two of the document you’ve created. I will highlight the improvements and return the work to you, for free and with no further obligation. You won’t be pestered with calls or emails– I’ll just look forward to hearing from you if you want any further work done.
What can be improved?
Anything that will be printed and distributed can benefit from being proofread and/or copy-edited.
Proofreaders and copy-editors work on novels, self-published books, website content, marketing material, press releases, business reports, magazine articles, advertisements, point-of-sale displays, training material, presentations, bids for contracts, packaging . . . the list is endless.
What sorts of things do you work on?
I don’t specialise, e.g. in checking scientific papers or the legality of contracts (though I still help to improve those). I can work on just about anything that doesn’t require very specialist knowledge.
Call or email me to ask if I can help with your work. If I can’t help, I might well be able to recommend someone who can.
Why would I need to use a copywriter?
It’s not unusual for companies to spend a fortune on getting a website or a brochure professionally designed, then just to get someone in the company to write the content.
Lots of people are good at writing. Writing good copy is a different matter – it’s about understanding how your customers’ minds work, about what makes them want to do business with you. See this page for further information.
How long will the work take?
I often work evenings or weekends and am happy to work to tight deadlines. I’ll let you know how long your project will take as soon as I can see the work involved. If I am not able to complete your work within the required time, I can usually recommend someone else who will be able to help you.
How much will it cost?
My services and fees are reasonable and flexible. Once I’ve seen some or all of the work involved, I will give you a quote based on my estimation of how long the work will take. Then if it takes less time, I’ll charge you less (but never more).
Please note: my quotes are never based on word count alone. There are too many other factors involved, such as the complexity of the work and special requirements.
How can I pay?
After the work has been completed, I will send you an invoice with details of how to pay by bank transfer, SWIFT or IBAN. You can use a credit/debit card or PayPal to make payment via this website, or you can pay by cheque if you prefer.
What about confidentiality?
I will always keep your documents completely confidential and will be happy to provide and sign a non-disclosure agreement if required.
Your details will never be passed on to any third parties.
